Wetherill Park Open Day
OneSteel Metalcentre's flagship Sydney location, Wetherill Park, held a major customer function on October 18 to showcase the recently upgraded processing equipment.
The event was attended by more than 50 customers from the Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong regions, as well as numerous OneSteel Metalcentre staff, including General Manager Mark Lewin.
The highlights of the event were the tour and demonstration of the NSW processing facilities including plate line, beam lines and the newly commissioned Angle Line and Coping Beam Line; as well as a key note speech from Nissan Motorsport co-owner and driver Todd Kelly.
The team at Wetherill Park demonstrated a real ‘Yes, we can’ attitude to bring this event to life: closing the site for 3 hours, completing the necessary safety checks, installation of fencing and preparation of processing samples were but a few of the many activities that made this event a success.
Location Manager and Master of Ceremonies, Grant Norman reflected on the desire to achieve future success from the event: “I think there will be good things to come from this. In this tough market, we need to have something to give our customers an edge and the installation of this equipment is what will drive it there.”
NSW State Manager Andrew Chamberlain was also positive about the event; “Internal and external feedback so far has been really positive. It was well executed and demonstrated the amount of planning and attention to detail from its inception to the day itself.”
Todd Kelly was certainly a hit with the customers, chatting about his history with OneSteel when he was driving Bobcats for his father on building sites, right through to the becoming the owner of a multi-million dollar racing organisation. Todd was also a keen attendee on the processing tour and happily moved between the guests, chatting and signing autographs.
The event was seen to be a real success by those who attended. A big thank you to Todd Kelly for giving his time.
